Poland – Nearly 40% of businesses plan to hire more staff in the next quarter

05 September 2017

Approximately 40% of firms in Poland intend to recruit staff in the next quarter of 2017 to increase or maintain employment levels according to the latest Job Market Barometer from Polish contract, RPO, and outsourcing company Work Service Group.

The data from Work Service also showed that 60% of businesses will be looking at medium-level workers. This is in contrast to the last two years where the highest demand was for low-skilled workers. The barometer adds that low-skilled vacancies are now often filled by migrants.

The highest demand for staff was seen among large companies, of which 67% will be recruiting in the next quarter. Among the sectors, highest demand was seen in the retail sector (46% of firms planning to recruit staff) and services (43%). The report also showed that 11.6% of employees are afraid of losing their jobs, down by 12.3% in the same period last year. Figures from Eurostat showed that the unemployment level in Poland stood at 4.8% in July.
