Statistics released by the Dutch Federation of Employment Agencies (ABU) revealed that the number of hours worked by temporary workers remained unchanged between 7 October and 3 November (Period 11).

Industry turnover during the period increased by +2% compared with last year. Period 11 had the same number of working days as the corresponding period last year. ABU also revealed that:

• The number of hours worked in the administrative sector rose by +3%, with sales also rising year-on-year by +3%.
• In the industrial sector, turnover decreased by -1% compared to the same period last year. Sales for the sector, however, increased by +2%.
• The number of hours worked in the technical sector was on par with period 11 in 2012. Sales for the sector increased, year-on-year by +1%.
• The number of hours worked in the medical sector dropped by -29% with sales falling by -25%. 

The slowdown noted during period 10 seems to have subsided, with sales increases in all sectors with the exception of the medical sector, which has consistently underperformed in comparison with the other sectors.  

Every four weeks ABU members deliver their turnover and working hours to TNS-NIPO. This is called the ABU-Marktmonitor. The monitor contains more than 60% of the total staffing industry in the Netherlands. For the Dutch staffing market, Staffing Industry Analysts forecasts a single digit decline for the whole year 2013.
