Netherlands – Temp workers’ hours up 6%

The total amount of hours worked by temporary workers in the Netherlands grew by 6% in the third period (weeks 9-12) of 2018, compared to the same period last year, according to the Dutch Federation of Private Employment Agencies (ABU).

ABU divides the year into four-week periods, with the first period the most recently ended. This period counted as many workable days as the same period last year, so no correction was applied.

Turnover among temporary workers grew by 9% in comparison to the same period last year.

ABU figures also showed that temporary workers in the administrative sector saw their hours decrease by 2% compared to the same period last year while turnover remained steady in the same period.

Meanwhile, hours worked by temporary workers in the industrial sector saw an increase of 11% and turnover increased 16% compared to last year. Furthermore, the amount of hours worked in the technical sector increased by 7% while turnover grew by 10% compared to the same period last year.
