Netherlands – Self-employed freelancers are increasingly positive about their financial situation

More self-employed freelancers in the Netherlands were positive about the financial situation of their company in 2019 than they were four years ago, according to data from Statistics Netherlands.

“With the recovery of the economy and the increase in purchasing power in the last few years, the mood among independent entrepreneurs without staff has improved,” Statistics Netherlands stated. 

In 2019, 53% were positive about the financial situation of their company. Four years earlier, that was 43%.

The data from Statistics Netherlands also showed that the self-employed freelancers were also more satisfied with their income and their assignments in 2019 when compared to 2015. Moreover, a larger proportion of entrepreneurs are not worried about the future of the company.

The Netherlands has 1.1 million self-employed people freelancers. This number has been constantly increasing in recent years.
