Netherlands – Randstad’s hottest jobs in 2016

22 January 2016

Randstad has released a list of the hottest jobs in 2016 in the Netherlands with 27 jobs divided into nine occupational fields.

For the list, Randstad looked at jobs in which there is a high demand in respect to active offers. An active offer is a combination of both employed and unemployed people who are actively looking for another job, according to Randstad.

The list also looked at factors such as how many vacancies there were in a particular job and if the demand is rising. Randstad also looked at expectations of the Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA) regarding future job opportunities.

The nine occupational fields with the hottest jobs are adjudged to be: the commercial sector, ICT (information communications technology), administrative, financial, construction, care and logistics.

"It's interesting to look at the newcomers in this list,” Marjolein ten Hoonte, Director Labour Randstad Group Netherlands, said. “In the care sector, there was much demand for nurses, physician assistants, however this year especially, optometrists and occupational physicians proved to be popular. In the new category 'Logistics' conduct transport planners and truck drivers made the list.  We also see an increasing demand for mortgage advisers. “

“The development of the economy leads to new investments and demand for specific functions,” Hoonte said. “The list provides an insight into many requested features and helps job seekers in estimating skills needed for that. "
