Netherlands – Randstad and Tempo-Team employees required to undergo mandatory anti-discrimination course (AD.nl)

26 February 2018

All employees of temporary staffing firms Randstad and Tempo-Team in the Netherlands are required to take an anti-discrimination course after it was found last month that some temporary staffing firms participated in discriminatory behaviour, reports AD.nl. The course is in response to research from Dutch television program Radar, which called a number of temporary employment agencies in the Netherlands, and presented themselves as clients who were looking for staff. Of the 78 temp agencies they phoned, nearly half, or 47%, responded to a discriminatory request. Following the research, most members of the Dutch House of Representatives called for the naming and shaming of the temp agencies that were found to have participated in the discriminatory behaviour. A spokesperson for Randstad and Tempo-Team, which is a part of the Randstad Group in the Netherlands, stated, “We are aware of the social role we play in making work accessible to everyone. Discrimination has no place in our organisation." The course is set to start in March.
