Netherlands – More than 100,000 CVs illegally downloaded from employee insurance agency (AD.nl)

Approximately 117,000 CVs have been illegally downloaded from Dutch benefits agency UWV, reports AD.nl. Social affairs minister Wouter Koolmees said the 117,000 resumes had been accessed over a period of two weeks from UWV’s jobsite, werk.nl, using the account of a UWV staff member. The UWV staff member claimed to have been unaware of the activity and Koolmees stated that the account staff member’s account was “probably abused”. The National Cyber ​​Security Center, Dutch Data Protection Authority and police were alerted. The parties involved have been informed by the UWV. They have been advised to be alert to possible spam and phishing messages. Vincent Böhre Privacy First Foundation said the personal data on CVs can be misused for committing identity fraud.
