Middle East – Online recruitment in the Gulf region rises by 15%, led by BFSI sector

Online recruitment across the Gulf region rose by 15% in August 2022 when compared to August 2021, according to the latest data from the Monster Employment Index.

The Index reflected an increase in job demand as the index rises to 132 in August 2022 from 115 in August 2021.

On a monthly basis, the Index remained flat, as July 2022 too saw an index of 132.

Monster noted a 5% growth was witnessed in last six months. The growth is evidence to a progressively growing employment market and a reflection of increased positive business sentiment from mid to long-term perspective.

Online hiring demand in August 2022 exceeded August 2021 level in 9 of the 13 Industries monitored by the Index.

The BFSI (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance) (37%) sector noticed sharpest increase in the e-recruitment activity on an annual basis. Also, the Retail/Trade and Logistics (23%) industry maintained an uptrend in online hiring between Aug 2021 and Aug 2022. whereas Oil and Gas (21%) followed closely charting consecutive growth annually.

Consumer Goods/ FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods), Food & Packaged Food, Home Appliance, Garments/ Textiles/ Leather, Gems & Jewelry (-13%) has been exhibiting fewer opportunities annually since October 2021.

Online demand for professionals reflected growth in 8 of the 11 functional areas annually as monitored by the Index.

Software, Hardware, Telecom (+19%) led growth across all segments. On the other hand, Healthcare (-14%) exhibited the steepest decline in August 2022 from the year-ago level.

By country, the Monster Employment Index for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia grew 10% in August 2022 from the year-ago level.

The Monster Employment Index for the UAE registered a 19% rise in e-recruitment activity between August 2021 and August 2022.
