In an interview with Staffing Industry Analysts, ManpowerGroup discusses its latest ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey, as well as the UK’s talent shortage and the latest labour market release by the Office for National Statistics.

The Q3 Outlook showed that Employer hiring confidence has grown in almost every sector across the UK, rising by 8% since last quarter to 29%. However, the Outlook in the UK is 5% lower than this time last year, when overall job vacancies were at record high levels.

In the interview Manpower UK director Petra Tagg said that hiring intentions are still positive. “I think it’s fair to say that while it (the Outlook) has dipped, the market is still very buoyant and we are still seeing really positive intentions to hire.”

Tagg also discussed the latest labour market figures which showed the unemployment rate for February to April 2023 increased by 0.1% on the quarter to 3.8%.
