Latvia’s government has announced that is has appointed the State Employment Agency’s Deputy Director Evita Simsone as the agency’s new director.

Prior to becoming the Employment Agency's deputy director, Simsone had worked as the head of the Employment Agency's offices in the town of Cesis. The employment agency's previous director Inese Kalvane resigned on 8 September.

Latvia's unemployment rate stood at 8% in November, up 0.1% from the previous month, according to the employment agency.
