Italy – Average number of temporary workers falls 1.8% in December

The average number of temporary agency workers in Italy in December 2018 decreased by 1.8% on an annual basis, according to figures from Ebitemp, the bilateral organisation for temporary employment representing employers’ associations and unions.

The total payroll of temporary workers in November decreased by 0.7% compared to the same month last year.

Meanwhile, the number of hours worked in December 2018 increased by 0.4% on an annual basis. Broken down by hours worked per worker, Ebitemp recorded an increase of 2.3% compared to the previous year.

Eurostat data for December 2018 showed Italy had an unemployment rate of 10.3%.
