Ireland – Jobless rate falls to 6.1% in September

Ireland’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate September 2017 was 6.1% down from 7.5% in September 2016 and unchanged from August 2017, according to figures from the Central Statistics Office.

The seasonally adjusted number of persons unemployed was 133,200 in September, a decrease of 31,600 when compared to September 2016 and down from 133,400 when compared to the August 2017 figure.

Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.8% for males, down from 8.6% in September 2016 and down from 7.0% in August 2017.  The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for females in September 2017 was 5.1%, down from 6.2% in September 2016 but up from 5.0% in August 2017.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for persons aged 15-24 years (youth unemployment rate) was 14.8% in September 2017, a decrease from 14.8% last year and 15.3% in August 2017.
