Ireland – Half of professionals fear their boss will catch them searching for a new job (RTE)

11 April 2019

Approximately half, or 51%, of professionals in Ireland are afraid to post their profile on a jobs board in case their boss finds it, reports RTE citing survey data from Harvey Nash. The survey assessed the attitudes of 3,500 full-time professionals to their career management. The most popular reason for seeking a new job was the opportunity to learn new skills, as cited by 33% of professionals. This was followed by better remuneration (26%) and dissatisfaction with their current job (16%). Furthermore, 45% of professionals said they were passive in their approach to seeking a new job. Harvey Nash found that respondents said they would only consider a new job role if they are contacted in relation to it, but would not actively seek new opportunities.
