Ireland – Government launches consultation on flexible working and future of jobs

11 December 2019

The Irish government is launching a consultation on flexible working and the future of jobs. It’s seeking the views of workers, employers, unions and others on the types of flexible working arrangements currently in place and the changes they wish to see.

“As we approach full employment, we need to be more creative about how we look at the world of work,” said Heather Humphreys, minister for business, enterprise and innovation.

Flexible work options may include:

  • Starting or finishing work at differing times
  • Working compressed hours
  • Having access to flexi-time
  • Being able to work remotely
  • Having the right to disconnect outside work hours

Submissions can be made by emailing flexibleworkconsultation@justice.ie. Or those interested can complete an online questionnaire.

The closing date for receipt of submissions is 5 pm GMT on 31 January 2020.
