In an audio interview with the World Employment Confederation, SIA discusses how economic downturns and booms impact the regulatory landscape in the staffing industry.

Michael Freytag, public affairs manager at the World Employment Confederation, the global body representing the staffing industry, points out how economic downturns and booms can have an effect on how the government reacts to the employment landscape which in turn can lead to more restrictions within the staffing industry.

The interview with SIA is a follow up to the recent Staffing Executive Regulatory Outlook report by the WEC. The report found that half of the staffing executives surveyed by the WEC believe the situation will remain neutral as they look ahead to 2024.

Freytag also talked about what the barriers are to having dialogue around sectorial collective bargaining. He said the key element to collective bargaining is a long-term commitment.
