Germany – Number of jobs increase while demand for IT specialists grows

26 April 2016

There are 21% more jobs in Germany in Q1 2016 compared to the previous quarter according to the latest Job Index by Robert Walters.

According to the report, the confidence of candidates and companies is growing, especially for medium-sized companies that are looking for experienced and professionally qualified managers.

The number of advertised sales positions increased by 30% compared to Q4 2015.

“Industries such as logistics and manufacturing are still on course for growth and looking for qualified accountants and sales specialists," Nick Dunnett, Director of Robert Walters Germany and Switzerland, said.

Meanwhile jobs for IT professionals fell by 22%, but demand for specialists persists. Demand is up especially for software developers, IT managers and SAP (systems, applications and products) consultants. Greatest changes in the IT sector take place due to technology shifts.

"The fact is that companies promote their digital business and must strive to incorporate the technological innovations in their strategies in order to stay in competition,” Dunnett said. “Therefore, IT remains a popular, dynamic industry.”
