Germany – Job vacancies and employment hit record high in December (The Nation)

Job vacancies in Germany hit a record high at the end of 2017 with immigration helping to drive employment to an all-time high, reports the Nation, with data from the Federal Statistics Office, Destatis.  The job vacancies indicator climbed to 227 points in December, a rise of 21 points over the same month in 2015. Employment in Germany increased by 1% to 43.4 million in 2016. The Federal Statistical Office has also determined that "Germany has the second lowest rate of unemployment among all EU Member States after the Czech Republic".
