Germany – Government says companies reporting greater difficulty when hiring IT talent

05 December 2019

Companies in Germany are having more difficulty filling IT vacancies, Germany’s Federal Statistical Office reported Thursday.

Looking at data from 2018, the agency said that 69% of firms hiring, or trying to hire IT talent, reported difficulties in hiring IT experts — that’s up from 64% in 2017 and 46% in 2014.

Meanwhile, the percentage of firms hiring, or trying to hire, IT talent remained constant at around 10% of companies.

Problems companies ran into while trying to hire IT talent included lack of applicants, candidates without necessary skills or job experience, and those who had salary expectations that were too high.
