Germany – Engineering company tests mobile game app to hire refugees

03 August 2016

German mechanical engineering company Eickhoff has decided to test a mobile app game as a new recruitment process for refugees without qualification certificates.

Applicants are required to play a mobile app game called Dashi Dash, and the ones who excel are appointed as trainees and could later become full-time employees.

Algorithms assess the player's results and create an overview of their talents and abilities, such as self-control, organisational skills, social intelligence, problem-solving skills, stress resistance, empathy and motivation.

The game was developed by US start-up Knack, and is already adopted by US companies for digital recruiting.

Eickhoff CEO Paul Rheinlaender stated that the method was currently on a trial period, but he did not give it high hopes because most refugees do not speak English and would most probably get confused.

Eickhoff is the first company in Germany to try the new recruitment process.
