France – Youth are more receptive to temporary work, Prism’Emploi finds

Young people under the age of 25 in France are becoming receptive to temporary work, according to new research from Prism’Emploi, the French association of employment agencies.

The research found that youth are significantly more likely to have experienced this form of employment. Prism’Empoi found that 34% have experienced temporary work in 2018 compared to 27% in 2017. Moreover, their impression of temporary work is changing favorably as the study found that for 73% of youth, it is a good way to build a career, this is 4% higher than last year. When broken down, the data showed that more women (77%) view temporary work as a good way to build a career compared to men (70%).

Meanwhile, Prism’Emploi’s study also found that optimism in the job market is growing among youth as 43% of them are optimistic, which is 14% higher than in 2017. Prism’Emploi’s barometer, which measures the degree of optimism of young people and their job situation, recorded a score of 6.3 out of 10, which is higher than last year’s 6.1 and the highest score recorded since the barometer launched.

The barometer found that 70% of students and 53% of young people under 25 who are looking for work or employment, say they are optimistic about the employment situation in their sector of activity.

Prism’Emploi’s research also found that for 43% of young people in employment, the work environment is the first determining factor for feeling happy at work.
