France – Temporary employment up strongly in December and for the full year 2017

Temporary employment in France grew by 7.8% in December compared to last year, according to data from Prism’Emploi, the French association of employment agencies.

Prism’Emploi’s barometer also published full year data for 2017 showing that temporary employment increased by 8.5% over the course of the year, which corresponded to more than 50,000 additional full-time equivalent jobs.

The barometer showed that for the second consecutive year, temporary employment in all sectors is on the rise with the transport and logistics (16.2%); industry (8.7%); Services (6.2%), trade (5.6%) and construction (5.4%) sectors all reporting year-on-year growth.

All occupational categories reported growth in 2017, with executives and intermediate professions showing the highest year-on-year growth (12%).

In 2017, temporary employment increased in all regions with the Burgundy Franche Comté reporting growth of 14.6% and the Brittany region with 13.5% year-on-year growth.

The barometer added that monthly trends remained positive throughout the year, ranging from 6.3% in May to 12% in September. The most dynamic period occurred between September-October.
