France – Temporary employment up in fourth quarter

Temporary employment saw an increase of 2.1% in the fourth quarter, when compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Ministry of Employment, Vocational Training and Social Dialogue (Dares).

The 2.1% fourth-quarter increase amounted to 15,400 more temporary workers than in the previous year.

Growth was reported in the tertiary sector (2.5%), industrial (2.3%) and construction (1.2%). Meanwhile, temporary employment saw a decline in the agriculture sector (-6.8%) during the same period.

On average over the quarter, the volume of temporary employment measured in full-time equivalent jobs, rose by 3.7% in the fourth quarter of 2017.

Full year figures showed that across all sectors reported, temporary work rose 8.2% during 2017 when compared to 2016.
