France – Temporary employment up in February

28 March 2018

Temporary employment in France recorded a growth of 7.3% in February when compared to last year, according to data from Prism’Emploi, the French association of employment agencies.

Over the year, 45,000 temporary jobs were created. The biggest increases came from transport (16.5%), industry (7.5%), construction (6.5%) and services (4.8%) in February. On the other hand, the trade sector saw a decline of 0.6% during the same period, with Prism’Emploi stating that the decrease was probably due to weather conditions.

According to Prism’Emploi, all professional categories saw growth in temporary employment in February. Temp employment grew among unskilled workers (10.3%), skilled workers (7.3%), employees (5.3%) and middle managers (0.4%).

Among the regions, the number of temporary workers increased the most in Burgundy-Franche-Comté (16.7%) and in the Pays de la Loire (+ 13.6%) regions.  Île-de-France saw a growth of 0.3% during the period.
