France – Temporary employment down 4.5% in October: Prism’Emploi

The number of temporary workers in France fell by 4.5% year-over-year in October 2019, according to the latest Barometer report by Prism’Emploi, the French association of employment agencies.

Since the start of the year, the number of temporary workers in France have seen an average decline rate of 4.7%.

The 4.5% decline in October follows a 6.7% year-over-year decline in September 2019.

Temporary employment is up in transport (+ 0.6%), but reported a decrease in trade (-0.8%), construction (-1.6%), services (-4.1%) and the large industry sector (-7.6%).

Among professional categories, temporary employment increased among managers and intermediate professions (+0.3%). However, it declined among employees (-2.4%), unskilled workers (-4.0%) and skilled workers (-7.9%).

All regions reported a decrease in October, with the exception of Brittany (+ 1.4%) and Pays-de la-Loire (0.4%).
