France – Temp employment rises in second quarter

In the second quarter of 2017, temporary employment in France in Q2 2017 rose by 23,200 jobs (3.4%) after it decreased by 0.6% in Q1 2017. Over the year, it increased by 105,000 (17.4%), according to figures from INSEE (National Institute of Statistics for Economic Studies).

The data also showed that net payroll creation in France reached 81,400, an increase of 0.3% as in the previous quarter and the eleventh consecutive quarter of growth. INSEE employment estimates tracks the number of persons in employment as defined by the International Labour Organisation.

The figures showed that payroll employment increased by 76,800 in the private sector and by 4,600 in the public sector, compared to the previous quarter. Year on year, employment rose by 303,500 net jobs (1.2%) : 276,300 jobs were created in the private sector and 27,200 jobs in the public service.

Figures from Pole Emploi showed the number of temporary workers increased in July by 13.1% compared to the previous year.
