France – Number of temp workers up strongly in March

The number of temporary workers in March increased by 14.2% compared to the previous year, according to Pôle Emploi. Compared to the previous month, the number of temporary workers increased by 0.1%.

At the end of March 2017, the number of temporary workers was 744,800 in seasonally adjusted terms, up by 92,700 from March 2016.

In March, the number of temporary workers increased in construction (+ 24.6%), tertiary (15.4%) and industrial (+ 9.2%), year-on-year.

The Burgundy-Franche-Comté region recorded the largest month-to-month increase at 5.8% in March.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in France for March 2017 stood at 9.8%, according to figures from Eurostat.
