France – Most recruiters view temporary work experience as an advantage

According to a survey from international recruitment firm Robert Half International, most recruiters in France view temporary work experience as an advantage.

The survey, which polled a panel of 200 HR professionals, showed that 34% of respondents believe that experience with fixed-term contracts have a real benefit if they are directly related to the job applied for. Meanwhile, 33% of respondents think fixed-term contract experience shows that the candidate is flexible and adaptable. While 26% of respondents say they do not distinguish between fixed-term employment and permanent employment. However, 5% of respondents view temporary work experience in a negative light.

Further research from Robert Half shows that permanent contract applications fell by 19% between September 2015 and September 2016 while at the same time, temporary contract applications have soared by 37%.

“A regular change of place and working conditions allows workers to experience different professions, different areas, different frames, and sometimes they work in a very short time which demonstrates a strong potential adaptability: an appreciated quality, " Noemie Cicurel, Director Robert Half, temporary recruitment, said of temporary work. “Temporary work or fixed-term contracts, is a good way to access permanent employment.”
