France – Employment rises at fastest pace in a decade, temp jobs up

Employment in France rose by 89,700 in the first quarter of 2017, an increase of 0.4% which was the fastest rise in a decade, according to figures from the national statistics agency INSEE.

The figures also showed that temporary work posted 17,000 more jobs in the first quarter, a quarterly increase of 2.5% and an annual increase of 15.6%, or 93,000 jobs over one year.

Meanwhile, of the total jobs created in France, the majority of the new jobs created were in the private sector. Total employment in France now stands at 24.93 million.

According to data from Prism Emploi, the French association of employment agencies, temporary employment in France grew by 8.2% in April 2017 compared to last year.
