Europe – Unemployment rate remains at lowest level since 2000; Czechia posts lowest jobless rate

The unemployment rate in the 28-country European Union in November remained at its lowest level since tracking began in January 2000, according seasonally adjusted data released Thursday by Eurostat. November’s unemployment rate was 6.3%, holding steady from October.

Looking at just the 19-country euro area, the jobless rate was 7.5%. Also unchanged from October, it still represented the lowest level since July 2008.

Czechia posted the lowest jobless rate among all European Union countries at 2.2% in November. It was followed by Germany at 3.1% and Poland at 3.2%.

Spain recorded the highest unemployment rate at 14.1% in November. While Greece had a higher rate at 16.8%, the rate for that country was based on September data.

The UK’s unemployment rate was 3.7%, although it was based on September data.

In comparison, the US unemployment rate was 3.5% in November, down from 3.6% in October.
