Europe – Employment rises in EU28, GDP also grows

Employment increased by 1.0% in the euro area and by 0.9% in the EU28 in the third quarter of 2019, when compared to the same period last year, according to data from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

When compared to the previous quarter, the number of persons employed increased by 0.1% in both the euro area and in the EU28.

Eurostat also published GDP figures for the third quarter.

Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 1.2% in the euro area and by 1.3% in the EU28 in the third quarter of 2019.

Seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 0.2% in the euro area (EA19) and by 0.3% in the EU28 during the third quarter of 2019, when compared with the previous quarter.

Hungary reported the biggest increase in seasonally adjusted GDP in the third quarter when compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
