Europe – Employers must offer more than a good salary to attract Millennials

28 June 2016

According to new research from job board Monster, employers in Europe who want to attract Millennials (aged 18-35) must offer more than just a good salary.

The research, which polled 4,114 workers across Europe, showed that Millennials value development and training with 40% saying that one can build a successful career with ample development opportunities.

Young professionals find it important to continue to develop with 23% expecting to get this done mainly by frequently changing jobs. The study also showed that 54% of Millennials are open to switching to a new job while 21% are actively applying for new jobs.

"The Millennial generation is becoming increasingly important in the labor market. To attract this talent it is important to delve into what they need and care about, for example by paying attention to their development needs and mentors for guidance during their career,” Gian Zandona, Managing Director of Monster Worldwide in Netherlands, said.

The research also showed that 70% of Millennials are often insecure about their skills in the workplace while 74% also indicated that they would like to have someone who supports them in their career, as a mentor.
