Europe – Agency workers’ hours rise over year, report says

The average number of hours worked by Europe’s agency workers rose 5.3% year over year, according to the December 2016 European Agency Work Business Indicator published by World Employment Confederation-Europe.

Denmark reported the strongest increase; Poland and Norway contracted slightly.

Growth in the number of hours worked by agency workers by country include:

  • Denmark: 10.3%
  • Austria: 7.4%
  • Belgium: 7.3%
  • France: 6.8%
  • Italy: 2.7%
  • Switzerland: 1.3%
  • Netherlands: 6.0%
  • Norway: -0.9%
  • Poland: -2.0%

The report also found agency work sales revenues posted solid increases across all markets in the third quarter. The sharpest growth occurred in Finland and Poland:

  • Finland: 17.3%
  • Poland: 13%
  • Belgium: 8.99%
  • France: 7.3%
  • Sweden: 7.0%
  • Netherlands: 6.0%
  • Denmark: 4.8%
  • Norway: 4.1%
  • Italy: 3.6%

The World Employment Confederation-Europe (formerly Eurociett) includes 29 national federations from Europe.
