Dutch temporary staffing hours down 13% while revenue dips 2%

The total amount of hours worked by temporary workers in the Netherlands decreased by 13% year over year in the eleventh period of 2023 (9 October through 5 November, weeks 41 to 44), according to the Dutch Federation of Private Employment Agencies (ABU). Revenue fell by 2% when compared to the same period a year ago. 

The latest period had the same number of workable days as the same period last year, so no correction was applied. 

Broken down by sector, the number of hours fell by 21% and turnover fell by 8% in the administrative sector, when compared to the same period last year. 

In the industrial sector, the number of hours decreased by 10% and turnover increased by 2% compared to the same period last year. 

Meanwhile, in the technical sector the number of hours decreased by 8% and turnover increased by 4% compared to the same period last year.
