Denmark – Online job ads hit by political uncertainty: Jobindex

19 November 2019

The number of new online job ads fell in October 2019 when compared with the previous year according to data from Danish job board Jobindex.

The seasonally adjusted figure for job listings was 21,400 in October 2019. This was a decrease compared to October 2018 when the figure was 24,000 job listings. It was a slight decrease compared to the previous month when the figure was 22,500.

Kaare Danielsen, CEO of Jobindex commented, “"For the first time in ten years, the total number of job postings on the Internet has begun to decline after the summer holidays.”

“Uncertainty about how Brexit is ending - and fears of US-China trade war - mean companies are holding back on hiring," Danielsen concluded.

Jobindex also provided a brief update on trading.

The company said it maintains the full-year expectations announced in the second quarter of revenue in the region of DKK 310 million and operating profit in the region of DKK 80 million.

Last month the company announced that it had completed the sale of its Swedish operations, under the name Jobbsafari (Check spelling) to Blocket AB.
