Denmark – Job market stabilizing, but uncertainty remains

07 February 2023

The Danish job market is continuing to stabilize, according to data released Monday by job board operator Jobindex.

At the start of 2022 — in January and February — more than 34,000 new job adverts were placed online each month. Since then, the number fell significantly, reaching 27,400 new job adverts in October. The numbers have since bounced back somewhat with 28,200 new job adverts in January and November and December adding a little more than 27,500 each.

The improvement is not a trend; the level of job adverts is now low, Jobindex cautioned.

“A level of just over 28,000 job adverts posted online per month corresponds to the level in spring 2021, when many companies were looking for employees after the previous winter's shutdowns,” according to the company. “So there is no immediate question of a crisis on the job market, but the companies seem to be adapting to the more uncertain economic times.”

Still, the fall in new job adverts means it’s uncertain whether the increase in employment can be expected to continue or not.
