Denmark – Job ads up in January, finds Jobindex

13 February 2018

The number of new online job ads increased in January when compared with the previous year according to data from Danish job board Jobindex.

In January, there were 23,200 new job ads posted online. Compared to December it was a slight decline, however this was higher than November 2018 which Jobindex attributes to the Christmas season. Jobindex added that January’s figures were on a par with the average for the last three months of 2018.

Jobindex predicts a continuing upward trend in the number of new job advertisements in 2018 which signals high demand for new employees. Furthermore, Jobindex stated that employment is expected to reach its highest level ever this year.

Despite the recent rise in job ads, the level is still lower than before the financial crisis, when over 30,000 new job ads were posted online every month. However, Jobindex states that its figures give a clear indication that there is reason to expect continued rising employment with already low unemployment, but added that bottlenecks in the labour market can prove to be a challenge.

The highest growth in the number of new job ads was found in the public sector with the number of new job ads increasing by 16% from January last year to January this year.
