Czech Republic – Wages for temporary workers on the rise: Grafton Recruitment

23 May 2019

Hourly wages for temporary workers in the Czech Republic have grown across all regions in the country this year when compared to last year with growth up to 20% in certain regions, according to data from Grafton Recruitment.

The highest year-on-year increase was in the south-eastern Zlín Region, where wages for temporary workers increased by 20%. However, Prague still came out on top with wages up to CZK 250 (€9.68) per hour.

Grafton said most employers start offering temporary jobs for the summer months and this year jobseeker interest was higher than last year.

“According to our experience, it is worth looking for a summer job ideally around mid-May. It is a time when companies are starting to ask for temporary jobs in our company, and moreover, the most attractive jobs appear,” Jitka Součková, Grafton Recruitment marketing manager, said. “With regard to today's labour market, work can be found at the last minute, but temporary workers have a more limited choice. "

As for the increase in jobseeker interest, Součková said, “We expect increased demand especially after the exam period, when students start to look for extra money for the summer.”

The sectors with the highest jobseeker interest were found in administration, HR and finance.

Meanwhile, the administration sector had highest demand for temporary workers, while temporary manual labour workers were the least in-demand.
