Belgium – Temporary workers’ hours up in December

In December 2017, the number of hours worked by temporary workers in Belgium Increased by 10.03% when compared to last year according to Federgon, the Belgian Federation of Staffing Agencies.

The increase in the number of hours worked by temp workers was largely driven by a year-on-year increase in the blue-collar sector of 8.20 % and an increase of 12.39 % for the white-collar sector.

Federgon also published month-on-month figures which showed that the number of hours worked by temporary workers in Belgium increased by 3.63% in December against November. Federgon reported an increase of 3.42% in the blue-collar sector and an increase of 3.91% for the white-collar sector.

The Federgon index reached 285.8 points in December 2017 against 275.8 points in November. The index reflects the level of activity in the month studied compared to the base month of January 1995 (= 100 points), on a seasonally adjusted basis.
