Belgium – SME job index reaches record levels in Q2 2016

SME employment in Belgium experienced 0.34% quarterly growth in in Q2 2016, bringing the SME job index to a record level of 113.4%, according to figures from HR service provider SD Worx.

Among the regions, Flanders grew the most, followed by Wallonia, but the Brussels-Capital region remained negative. 

Within SME, the public sector grew by 1.55%, mainly in the health and social services. The service sector (tertiary sector) increased by 0.5%, followed by the secondary sector with a 0.4% growth. 

The SME job index of SD Worx is based on a sample of 16,496 companies, which together employ a total of 157,670 people.
