Belgium – Number of temporary workers up for 2015

According to Federgon, the Belgian federation of staffing agencies, never has there been more temporary workers than in 2015 with 584,332 temporary workers in 2015, an increase of 11.16% compared to the previous year.

The Federgon annual report shows that the 584,332 temporary workers recorded in 2015 represent the equivalent of 100,345 full-time employees.  Moreover, there were not only more students (217,880), but also a growing number of people over 50 years (38,294) who gained and regained gained a foothold in the labor market through temporary work, observed over three regions in Belgium.

"We also note that since the crisis of 2007- 2008 and the difficult times that followed, companies remain cautious when it comes to hiring staff ", said Herwig Muyldermans, CEO of Federgon.
