Belgium – Number of temporary workers’ hours increase

The number of hours worked by temporary workers in Belgium increased by 4.96% in August from the same period last year, according to seasonally adjusted data from Federgon, the Belgian Federation of Staffing Agencies.

The data also showed that the number of hours worked by blue-collar temporary agency workers in April increased by 5.44% while they also increased by 4.34% for white-collar workers, compared to the same period last year.

On a month-to-month comparison, the number of hours worked by temporary workers declined by 0.69% in August when compared to July. Meanwhile, the number of hours worked by blue-collar temporary agency workers fell by 0.27% while the number of hours worked by white-collar temporary agency workers decreased by 1.23%, compared to July.

The Federgon index reached 257.8 points in August 2016 against 259.6 points in July. This index reflects the level of activity during the month studied compared to the base month (100 points) of January 1995 (seasonally adjusted).
