Belgium – Actief expands with Dutch acquisition

05 September 2014

Belgian temporary recruitment firm Actief announced that it has acquired Netherlands-based recruitment firm TiP personeelsdiensten, as part of the company’s international growth strategy.

Financial details of the transaction were not released.

Mark Maesen, CEO of Actief Group, commented: “Over the past 15 years Actief has grown in Belgium from a small local player into a very successful company, operating nationally. We firmly believe that the Actief approach, which is based on local entrepreneurship, long-term partnerships, quality, services, and mutual trust, also provides a strong basis for successful growth in the Netherlands.”

“The TiP personeelsdiensten philosophy fits in perfectly with this and offers us the opportunity to establish a strong position throughout the Netherlands starting out from a solid local base,” he added.

Founded in 1988, Actief is a multi-sector recruitment firm with offices across Belgium and an office in Luxembourg. The company reports that it has an annual turnover of €200 million.

Alexander Meijers, Director of TiP personeelsdiensten, added: “During the negotiations, it soon became clear that Actief was a perfect match for us. They have the same ambition as TiP personeelsdiensten and give us the financial means to materialise our ambitions for growth.”

TiP personeelsdiensten was sold by Belgian employment firm Humares, which divested the business in order to further expand its technical/maritime recruitment specialism.

According to Staffing Industry Analyst’s ranking of the Belgian staffing market in 2012, Actief was the 7th largest staffing firm in Belgium at that time.
