Mountain View, California & London, UK — July 20, 2020 — Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA), the global advisor on staffing and workforce solutions, released its 2020 report on the Largest Staffing Firms in Germany. The report ranks the 50 largest staffing suppliers operating in this market by revenue generated during the year 2019. 

According to SIA data, the top 50 firms accounted for 49% of the total German staffing market, marking Germany as one of the least consolidated staffing markets in Europe. 

The German staffing market declined by 12% in 2019 overall, while the revenue generated collectively by the top 50 firms decreased by 10.7 % compared to 2018.

Randstad, The Adecco Group and ManpowerGroup, the largest staffing firms in the world, are also the largest three staffing companies in Germany based on revenue. These companies’ combined income accounts for 16% of total German market revenue and are followed by two companies headquartered in Germany – Persona Services and I.K. Hofmann. Together, these five firms account for 22% of the market, in terms of revenue.

“Market conditions were weakening in Germany before the onset on COVID-19. The slowdown of the Germany economy in 2019 coupled with the effect of regulatory changes acted as a significant headwind to staffing market growth,” said Matt Norton, Senior Research Analyst at SIA. “Reduced business confidence and slower client investment decisions, particularly in the manufacturing and automotive sectors, severely affected staffing revenue.”
