UK - Compliance salaries set to rise in 2016 according to Robert Half

24 November 2015

According to figures released by Robert Half UK, junior compliance associates are expected to receive a major salary hike next year.

Junior compliance associates will receive the third biggest salary percentage increase at 6.8%, behind mobile app developers (7.4%) and web developers (7.3%). This is above the 3% salary increase on UK professions on average.

The predicted salary increases for compliance professionals come at a time when further financial misconduct is in the midst of being investigated. In October, the Financial Conduct Authority banned Kweku Adoboli, the former UBS trader who lost $2.3 billion (£1.5 billion) through unauthorized trading, from working in the financial services industry. In 2012, Adoboli was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Phil Sheridan, senior managing director of Robert Half UK told CityAM: “The greatest salary increases are a clear indication of where the imbalance of supply and demand is the highest. This is creating upward pressure on salaries for hard to fill roles such as applications developers, compliance experts and information security managers who are so essential to organizations operating in today’s fast-evolving yet tightly regulated commercial environment.”
