Staffing buyer satisfaction holds steady, workers less satisfied, study says

August 21, 2014

Staffing buyers' awareness of staffing firms increased while buyer use and satisfaction with staffing firms held steady, according to the 2014 Opportunities in Staffing report by CareerBuilder.com and the Inavero Institute for Service Research.

The report also looked at workers and found that awareness, use and satisfaction with staffing firms slipped this year when compared to last.

CareerBuilder’s study tracked three metrics — client and job candidate awareness, utilization and satisfaction. And it included responses from more than 1,200 staffing industry employees, 5,500 candidates and 1,900 clients.

Among staffing buyers, 70 percent could name at least two staffing firms from memory (awareness), up from 66 percent in last year’s report, according to CareerBuilder and Inavero. Client utilization held steady with more than a fifth saying they hired through a staffing or recruiting firm in the past year. Satisfaction held steady as well with an 8 percent Net Promoter Score — the measure of how likely a client or candidate is to recommend a staffing firm.

For workers, awareness of staffing firms fell with 50 percent able to name at least one staffing firm from memory — down from 61 percent last year. Worker use of staffing firms as part of their job searches decreased to 20 percent this year from 23 percent last year. The average Net Promoter Score workers gave staffing firms was 22 percent this year compared to 33 percent last year.
