The Economic Cycle Research Institute’s (ECRI) weekly leading index of the U.S. economy fell to a reading of 123.2 in the week ended July 6, the index’s highest level since May.The index nonethelss remains down 2.2 percent from the year earlier.

ECRI is a private organization that monitors directional changes in the economy.
