Belgium – Increase in temporary hours in June

28 July 2015

In June 2015, the number of temporary hours worked increased by 4.44% compared to the same month last year. This represents an increase of 3.67% for blue collar and 5.56% for white-collar workers.

Month on month the industry saw a decrease of 3.01% from the previous month (when adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects). This decrease results from a negative trend in both blue and white collar segments: The number of hours worked decreased by 3.03% for the former and -2.98% for the latter.

The economic climate in Belgium has firmed up in related business services and in the manufacturing and building industries. This is the fifth improvement in a row. By contrast, the business outlook has taken a sharp turn for the worse in the trade sector, falling back to its early-2015 level.

The Federgon index reached 237.3 points in June 2015 from 244.7 points in May. This index reflects the level of activity during the month studied compared to January 1995 (base 100) on a seasonally adjusted basis.
