Howdy.com buys Brazil-based GeekHunter; will add workers to platform

Howdy.com, a platform that enables US companies to employ Latin American IT professionals, acquired GeekHunter, a company that provides US firms with IT pros from Brazil. The deal will add nearly 400,000 registered candidates to Howdy.com’s platform. Workers employed by both companies offer more than 100 IT skills including AI development, DevOps, Java, Python and more.

The companies operate similarly to employers of record, and the deal closed in July 2023.

“The acquisition of GeekHunter is a pivotal step in powering business growth and creating more opportunity for our businesses and customers,” Jacqueline Samira, CEO and founder of Howdy.com, said in a press release.

Both brands and executive teams will remain separate though they will share resources. The companies anticipate reaching $35 million in revenue by 2024.

Customers include Accenture, Amazon, IBM and Vanta.

Howdy.com is based in Austin, Texas, and has six offices in Latin America. In January 2023, the company, formerly known as Astro, announced a rebrand along with a $5 million extension to an initial $13 million Series A funding round from August 2022. At the time, the company said the overall total raised was $21 million and that it had a valuation of $105 million.

GeekHunter is based in Florianópolis, Brazil.

“Howdy.com’s global reach and human-focused business model will provide customers with more hiring options to fit their business needs and give our team more opportunities to work on great projects,” Tomas Ferrari, CEO and co-founder of GeekHunter, said in a press release.

Terms of the transaction were not announced.
