Codesmith, a software development and IT staffing firm based in Atlanta, was acquired by GritCo LLC, a Utah-based holding company and provider of educational software technology.

“The acquisition comes on the heels of a high-growth period for Codesmith over the last 24 months and offers additional resources and an injection of capital to accelerate expanded growth beyond the Southeast,” said Joey Harris, founder and CEO of Codesmith.

Founded in 2013, Codesmith builds custom software solutions for startups and mid-market clients in fintech, education, gaming, sports, e-commerce and manufacturing. With the acquisition, which closed in the second quarter, GritCo will continue to operate under the Codesmith name.

The deal gives GritCo access to Codesmith’s clients, a US-based leadership team and a near-shore development team in Argentina. In addition, Codesmith will move its base of operations to Hurricane, Utah.
