Nurse practitioner workforce more than doubles over seven years (Modern Healthcare)

The nurse practitioner workforce has more than doubled over a seven-year span amid a ramp-up in primary care, Modern Healthcare reported. The number of nurse practitioners rose to 190,000 in 2017 from 91,000 in 2010, Modern Healthcare reported, citing an analysis of US Census data published by Health Affairs. The outpatient setting represented the fastest growth.
